Howard R. Smith Post 137
Over 100 years of service to veterans, their families, and the New Castle community.
A Century of Service
Howard R. Smith Post 137 of The American Legion has been a fixture in New Castle, Indiana for over 100 years. The Post marked its 100th anniversary in 2023 — a century of veterans, families, and neighbors looking out for one another.
Post 137 is home to an active Honor Guard that performs gun salutes and the playing of taps at community Memorial Day ceremonies, an American Legion Auxiliary unit, and a Sons of The American Legion squadron. There's a place at Post 137 for veterans, family members, descendants, and community supporters alike.
